Pitsilia is a special geographical region which consists of a cluster of mountainous communities. It is located in the Troodos mountains and is surrounded by forests: to the west by the Troodos forest, to the north by the Adelphi forest, to the east by the Machairas forest and to the south by the Limassol forest.

The largest vineyard altitude zone is between 1,000 -1,200 meters and corresponds to 222 hectares, while the 1,200 – 1,400 meters zone is covered by 189 hectares of vines. The two zones make up 77% of Pitsilia’s vineyards. One of the most important elements that characterize the region is the existence of 5 hectares of vineyards at altitudes of more than 1400 meters with the highest at 1,501m.

The area is characterized by steep slopes. The vineyards grow either on the natural surface of the soil, i.e. without the creation of terraces (eg Farmakas area) or in narrow terraces supported by traditional dry stone.
