In the wider area of the Troodos Ophiolite Complex, a variety of igneous rocks are found including plutonic rocks (Harzburgite, Serpentinite, Dunite, Behrlite, Pyroxenite, Gabbro and Plagiogranites) and Multiple Vein Systems.

From a geological point of view, Pitsilia consists of various geological formations of igneous origin, with properties that give the landscape a special shape and color. Based on the geological maps of the area, it appears that gabbro rocks predominate in the north and south-west of the area, while diabase rocks prevail in the south and south-east.

According to the distribution of the vineyards in relation to the geology of the soil, five geological zones are found in altitudes above 800m. Around 93% of the vineyards are located in the diabase and gabbro geological zones.
